«The will can move mountains»

Katrin Esefeld

This year will see the eighth joint World Championships with Powerman and ITU (International Triathlon Union) working closely together. Previous years were, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. In a series we would like to introduce you to the favourites. Today is the turn of the German Katrin Esefeld who wants to step in Zofingen for the first time on the podium.

The 33-year-old German this year at a race of the International Powerman Series could already step on top of the podium. Dr. Katrin Esefeld on the 10th of May won the Powerman Luxembourg in Hosingen. Apart from that Esefeld seems to like the number 8. At the last year’s Powerman Zofingen she ended up in eighth place as well as at the Challenge Roth 2015.

«Hopefully I’ll be better this time in Zofingen than in the years before.» She thinks, that Emma Pooley from Great Britain will win in Zofingen again and will defend her World Championship title. Esefeld herself became World Champion twice so far, but in triathlon. At the famous Ironman Hawaii she won in her age-grou in 2011 (25 years) and last year (30 years) as well.

Strong will

Esefeld spends all her time for her job and for the sport. «Besides that there’s not much time left for other things» says the doctor working at a clinic in Munich. To reward herself once in a while she drinks a cappuccino with a lot of milk froth. If her life motto «the will can move mountains» comes true, she can step on the 6th of September this year for the first time on the podium of the Powerman Zofingen.
