On the behalft of Powerman, the Bern-based recycling shop „Gump- und Drahtesel“ collects old bicycles for Africa. Bring your disused bike – roadworthy or not – to General-Guisan-Strasse 14 on September 4 and 5, 2010.

The bikes from Zofingen will be whipped into shape again in a workshop in a Africa.
The Bern-based recycling shop „Gump- und Drahtesel“ has been awarded in October 2009 with the renowned award „Swiss Social Entrepreneur 2009“. For more than 18 years now, they collect in a year more than 10‘000 rejected bicycles in Switzerland. In cooperation with other partners, about 8‘000 bikes are prepared and shipped together with the respective spare parts by containership to Burkina Faso, Eritrea or Ghana.
People in Switzerland who are currently unemployed can gain working experience and will be integrated again. At the same time the recycled „Bikes for Africa“ also create jobs there in the domain of bike installation, -reparation and –sale. Additionally, the bike as a mean of transportation boosts and secures the oil independent and CO2 free mobility.
Especially the childern are looking forward to the bicycles from Switzerland.

„Bikes for Africa“ is actively supported from various amassadors such as the comedian EMIL Steinberger, Clown PIC, cabaret artist Franz Steinegger and OL-crack Simone Niggli-Luder.
