To come fast to high-level for, Andy Sutz denied this year for the first time in his career a winter-training camp. «From the 12th of January I could train in North-Thai Chiang Mai during seven weeks with optimum relations very intensely.» The 29-year-old Schaffhauser felt afterwards above all on the wheel so strongly as never before. A strong virus illness placed Sutz at the beginning of May, nevertheless, during two weeks except battle. Although he allowed to analyse constantly his blood with the Swiss Duathlon-Triathlon and association doctor Patrick Noack, there is still no clarity about the kind and origin of the Virus'. «The symptoms pointed to the Pfeiffersche glandular fever, however, I had this already a few years before», says Sutz. «Clear, it occupies me, that I exactly do not know what I had. However, it is important that I am again fast with full forces.» However, this is not yet the case.« Until of the Powerman Zofingen on the 5th of September shouts I have luckily some time.»

Unsuccessful title defence

One year ago the member of the Tristar Schaffhausen in Budapest got absolutely unexpectedly the EM title about the Duathlon-long distance. «This year in Nancy my aim had been a place under the first six, however, already after the first unsuccessful run distance I could forget this.» Sutz had to be content on the 1st of May consequently with EM-place  15. The appealed virus prevented on the 16th of May a start with the interval Duathlon in Zofingen. Yet in full possession of his forces he did not win on the 30th of May in falcon's stone the Powerman Germany. With the Powerman Memorial Benny Vansteelant in the Belgian Torhout achieved Sutz behind the Belgian Joerie Vansteelant and the French Anthony Le Duey on 3rd place.

High out

To the rest, Sutz wants to sniff in the next time mountain air increases. On the 4th of July he lines up within the scope of the law top tour as the 12-kilometre-long Grenchen-mountain run (800 metres of height difference). «If I feel good there, I take part on the 11th of July in mountain run SM in Montreux.» The distance of the noble place in the Genevan's lake on the Rochers-de-Naye is 18.8 kilometres long (height difference: 1'600 metres). Sutz is level also a Bergfloh, stood with mountain run Swiss masteries already three times on the stage (twice place 2 and once rank 3). Before 1st of August of the Powerman Vlaanderen shout in Geel and 22nd of August of the Powerman in the Austrian Weyer, Sutz inserts three intensive training weeks. He spends two of it in the height training camp in the Engadin. Besides, yet the incident is not forgotten in the height training camp in Saint Moritz one year ago. In the second July half slipped of the Schaffhauser on the 3'000 metres above the sea level situated Fuorcla Surlej and banged with the knee on a sharp edged stone. Below in the valley a doctor had to sew the deep wound with five stings.

Seasonal climax Zofingen

The whole concentration is valid, actually, now already for the seasonal climax on the 5th of September. «With the Powerman Zofingen I want to come on the stage and there so far as possible upwards», Sutz describes his first aim. Being is second one to realise a quicker time than 2008 (6:29:44) and in 2009 (6:27:35). «To me makes no difference with the fact which other aces will go to the start, I must look at myself and my abilities.» Besides, Sutz knows exactly where he can still make good ground. «I have mostly potential still on the bicycle and there by the end of the bicycle distance.» Besides, the weather plays no big role. «Though in bad weather I am mostly better than my hardest competitors, however, I could already gain at high temperatures victories.» An additional motivation in Zofingen shows the Swiss sports television which will broadcast live two determining final hours of the long distance running again.« Because one knows that also at home on the screen many people watch one, one gets out the last of himself.»

Always new mat

In the job and in the private life Sutz places on proven. The qualified boat farmer still works in Thayngen/SH in a bicycle business as a bicycle mechanic. This within the scope of 20-to 30-percent jobs. «I would never like to become a Duathlon-full pro, because to me the change gives a lot of pleasure in the job.» Concerning the Powerman Zofingen the constant respect with his friend in the “solothurnischen village” Laupers also brings him geographical advantages. «In the morning of the Powerman Zofingen I must arrive so only just a few kilometres.» As for the rest he is to be found on racing-free week-ends mostly in the Solothurn broad. «However, a definitive residence change is not planned because I like the area around Schaffhausen, nevertheless, still a little better», says Sutz and adds immediately still, which is why. «In village Laupers I can train only uphill, the valley down or up.»

Sutz concerning his mobile mat is more like to experiment. «This is new every year.» Possibly this makes the Amsler & CO to AG, the Swiss main importer of the Canadian bicycle brand Felt. This lies in only few kilometres from Sutz flat. «I am glad every year gigantically about my new bicycle», betrays Sutz. «This time the bicycle is in white-green colour, besides, the driver and the tax sentence are differently in comparison to the 09th model.» Sutz is already curious whether he gets a golden mat next year for his 30th birthday.
