Powerman Zofingen: Cooperation with Fotoclub Blende 8.5 Zofingen works out at best
From 18 up to 26 members! Fotoclub Blende 8.5 is proud and happy to communicate this important growth of the number of its members since last year’s Powerman Zofingen. The cooperation between Fotoclub Blende 8.5 and Powerman Zofingen is for both parties a proof of value. On 1st and 2nd September a dozen of members of Fotoclub Blende 8.5 will again shoot the highlights of Powerman Zofingen. Approximatively 15’000 pictures are expected as a result.
«A major reason for the growth by eight new members is our last year’s gig at Powerman Zofingen», says a happy Gennaro Frontera, President of Fotoclub Blende 8.5 Zofingen. Furthermore some few new jobs landed thanks to the Fotoclub’s performance at Powerman Zofingen and in the end it was lots of fun, too.
«Sitting as a co-biker backwards on the motor-bike, dropping from the leaders back to the field and drive up again to the leader, this is just great experience», so Frontera. The man coming from Reiden (nearby Zofingen) especially appreciates if during a race a short stop can be made, to take a special and expressive picture. Last year an additional but welcome challenge for the Blende 8.5 team was the upcoming rain at the end of the run. «With the water on the course and the raindrops falling a new fascinating element had to be considered when taking the photos».
No end of pictures
Two years ago the organisers of Powerman Zofingen committed Alpha Foto GmbH, a local provider, to take on Sunday of the race pictures of all participants of the long distance course. The photos can be bought the same day few days after the race. In the same year Fotoclub Blende 8.5 Zofingen got an idea about a possible future cooperation. One year ago the deal was fixed. On 1st and 2nd September the photographers will capture on pictures the long and short distance race, the PowerKids, the Powerman CHARITY but also the many spectators and all the interesting happenings around the Powerman Zofingen.
«We will be in action each day of the event with up to ten photographers and take around 15‘000 pictures», promises Frontera. In the end the very best 1‘000 photos will be chosen to appear one week after the event on the website of Powerman Zofingen www.powerman.ch.
The long run to the super photo
«To capture a top picture, you have to snap at least two to three times the same object», knows Gennaro by experience. Each year the president of the club takes around 4’000 pictures. «The difficulty is to succeed in catching the dynamic of the athlete», says the Reider. A shot where the runner has both feet off the ground is more dynamic than if one foot touches the road. It’s the same for bikers if they appear on the photo crystal clear in front of e.g. a blurred cornfield in the background. «Finishers have to be shot five to six times it you want to capture their true emotions.»
It’s fun
The name of Fotoclub Blende 8.5 Zofingen is based on its foundation date. On 8th May 2009 six ladies and six men met in restaurant Felix in Zofingen to found the club. «Some of them made a three days course in Zofingen just beforehand», says Frontera. The idea was to meet like-minded people, to talk about experiences and possibilities. New ideas shall be collected and tried out. «And first of all fun should be the main trigger to participate. Even our yearly general assembly is not mandatory», the president emphasizes. They do it without any pressure to perform.
«We do not participate on any competitions or expositions». However, active participation of the members on common excursions, events and firve to six workshops a year is requested. Most of the members are from Zofingen, some of them from Berne, Sarnen and Zurich.
New members welcome
There are currently 26 members in Fotoclub Blende 8.5 Zofingen. New members are very welcome, Frontera says. «The limit is given by the number of 35 members, because above this number we would have to change our infrastructure, e.g. the meeting facilities, and we would not be able to care about the members as much as we would like to so far. », the Reider says. «The minimum age is 16 and you need to have a SLR (single lense reflex camera), passion for pictures and sociability», describes Frontera the requests. «It‘s great if someone creates new ideas and is committed with heart and soul».
Each member gets on www.blende8-5.ch an own gallery to expose its pictures there. Each fortnight the members meet on Wednesday or Friday evening at Zofingen’s leisure facilities Spittelhof. Next meetings will take place on 12th and 28th September at 7.30 pm. «If you are interested to become a member or to have a first insight please make sure that you register yourself on our website on contacts. It’s absolutely possible that spontaneously we move our meeting point to elsewhere in Zofingen», president Gennaro Frontera comments. After Powerman Zofingen the hobby photographer will be next on 20th / 21st October in Basel‘s zoo where the focus will be on taking pictures from animals.
