Joerie Vansteelant (BEL) and Lucy Gossage (GBR) were crowned ETU Powerman Long Distance European Duathlon Champions after a thrilling day of racing in Horst (NED). In the Elite Men's race, Vansteelant led the way from start to finish over the 15km run/ 60km/ 7.5km course - looking every inch the World Champion Duathlete that he is. The Belgian finished in 2:42:37 and now adds a first European title to the three World Championship Long Distance titles under his belt.

The Powerman Zofingen society is on track to get rid of its financial burden of the past. To secure Powerman Zofingen’s future, however, a budget extension is mandatory. The Powerman Zofingen steering committee consists of eight members, newly there are two women on board.

Seit 2006 kann der Powerman Zofingen jedes Jahr steigende Teilnehmerzahlen vermelden. Für die 24. Austragung des berühmtesten und härtesten Duathlons der Welt haben sich die Organisatoren zum Ziel gesetzt, die Rekordmarke von 1‘500 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern zu knacken. Zugpferd bleibt weiterhin das Langdistanzrennen in Form der ITU Powerman Long Distance Duathlon World Championships, die in Zofingen am 2. September zum insgesamt fünften Mal ausgetragen werden. Dank einem verstärkten Organisationskomitee soll vor allem aber auch die PowermanCharity neu aufblühen. Unterstützt wird dabei neu die Schweizer Behindertensport-Organisation Plusport. Dass der Powerman Zofingen im Hoch ist zeigte auch die Tatsache, dass beim jährlichen Rück- und Ausblick-Meeting bei der GIA Informatik AG in Oftringen mit über 50 anwesenden Sponsoren und Gönnern ein neuer Teilnehmerrekord aufgestellt werden konnte.

The ETU and International Powerman Association (I.P.A) would like to remind all National Federations and athletes about the opportunity to compete in a truly unique 2012 European Duathlon Championships.

For the first time, the Duathlon European Championships will host a Long Distance and Sprint Distance events. On Sunday 29th April, the Sprint Distance European Championships will begin with a 5km run (2 laps), followed by a 20km cycle (2 laps) and a final 2.5km run (1 lap). This race will begin at 1300. The LOC are offering an early bird entry offer of 85€ for the Sprint and this is open to Junior, U23 and all Age Group competitors.
All Elite (EC-LD), Junior and U23 will race in their National Federation colours, however, we will be flexible in this approach for Age Group races. It is also important to note that the U23 and Junior events are draft legal races and the Age Groups are draft-illegal (non-drafting).
This is the first time a Sprint Distance Duathlon European Championships has been held and both the ETU and Powerman are committed to having as many competitors as possible for this unique event.
